Dorothy Marie Walker, born October 9th, 1938; was welcomed home by her savior on August 2nd, 2021. Dorothy passed peacefully in her own home with both of her children by her side, following several days of wonderful fellowship with 5 generations of her family, several friends, relatives and numerous members of her church family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by both of her parents and her loving husband of 48 years, Randel Wayne Walker.
Dorothy is survived by her son Roland Walker and wife Karen, daughter Aven Roberts and husband Troy, 7 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and was blessed to have welcomed her first Great Great Grandchild into this world this past year. She is also survived by her two sisters, Della Miller and Bonnie Stevens, and had a very special bond with her Great niece Katie Canon.
Additionally, Dorothy is survived by several other family member as well as her two best friends, Candy Neal of over 50 years, and Peggy Henry. The three shared many wonderful times over the years and indulged in taking many cruises as well. This is something that Dorothy was very fond of!
Dorothy worked many years as an aid in the hospitals and then went on to work for Eckerd’s, which she retired from after 15 years of service. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church for several years and the returned to her home Church of Security First Baptist nine years ago. Dorothy’s places of employment and churches that she attended blessed her with many long-term relationships that she deeply cherished.
Dorothy loved her family beyond measure and loved serving in her church. Following retirement, she loved hosting gathering in her home, decorating for all occasions, and making floral arrangements for the church alter. She was proud of her family, her faith, and her salvation, and she was always happy to tell everyone all about them.
Dorothy, also known to her family as “Grammy” will be forever cherished and missed. We’ll be seeing you again soon! WE LOVE YOU GRAMMY!
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. before services begin and burial will follow services in the County Line Cemetery.
