Dorothy May Davis, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tues Jan 21, at her assisted living residence in Kingwood, TX. She was born February 20, 1923 in North Andover, Massachusetts. She met her husband, a Navy signalman, during WWII. They lived in Houston, TX and retired to Crockett, TX in 1980. In Crockett, she was a member of Eastern Star, DAR, Crockett First United Methodist Church, and was a docent of the Monroe-Crook House. She was always active in her community, loved people, flowers, knitting, bingo, bible study, conversation, family, and her dog, Savannah. She was an expert seamstress, gardener, and great friend to everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband L.C. Davis of 64 years; parents, John Harris and Gertrude Steele Michalski; sisters, Anna Harris Censullo and Marion Harris Spessard; brothers, Edward and William Harris. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Dorothy May Davis Bickford and Husband Cecil of Montgomery, TX; grandchildren, Carrie Kleemeier Stout and husband Terry of Broken Arrow, OK; Keith Kleemeier and wife Stephany and great grandson Tanner of Conroe, TX; brother Johnny Harris of Orlando, FL; and various nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors. Mrs. Davis will be laid to rest at 3:00 p.m. at Center Hill Cemetery in Crockett, Texas.
