Donald Gene McKay was born August 27, 1930 in Highlands, Texas and passed away on July 16, 2017 in Willis, Texas. Donald proudly served in the United States Airforce in World War II and was an active member of the VFW post 618 for over 30 years. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and was known for his barbeque. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Larkin McKay, sisters, Laura Gardner and Viola Morris, grandson, Jason Lucher and special friend Linda Faubain. He is survived by his stepdaughters, Peggy Hazel, Nancy Whiddon and Gloria Lucher and husband Jimmy, brother, Larkin McKay and wife Margaret, sister, Lila McKay Grissom, grandchildren, Matt Hazel and wife Cathy, Tina Byler and husband Dan, Becky Whiddon, Steven Lucher and wife Kerri, 11 great-grandchildren, nephew, Larry Grissom and niece, Debbie Grissom . Numerous other relatives and a host of friends also survive. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 10:00am in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Jude Sivcoski officiating. Burial will follow in Willis Cemetery.
