DeeDee was born in Bronxville, New York, while her father was working for RCA’s Record Division. She lived in Kansas City, Missouri, and Detroit, Michigan before her parents moved to Dallas, Texas. Her parents were Maureen Viola Mac Rae, and James Fred Dobbs. Her parents, her brother John Lucky Dobbs predeceased DeeDee.
DeeDee went to school at James B. Bonham, Alex W. Spence North Dallas High School and later attended North Texas State College.
As a teen DeeDee worked at the Granada Theatre in Dallas and Neiman-Marcus. She married James William Harness. Jim was killed in Vietnam. She worked for McKesson and Robbins Wholesale Drug Co. She later worked for Lone Star Wholesale Liquor Distributors before moving to California to work for Dobbs Stanford, which is a company her father owned.
DeeDee returned to Dallas and worked for Continental Telephone Company. She met Charles W. Clack while working for Continental. They later were married, and moved to Conroe in1972. DeeDee was a housewife for many years. She began real estate courses and received her salesman’s license in 1977. DeeDee received her broker’s license in 1980 and shortly after that she opened Diversified Properties.
DeeDee was a member of the Montgomery County Association of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. She attended state level conventions and conferences.
DeeDee was a member of the Montgomery County Fair Association in 1970 & 1980. She was president of the Conroe Tiger Paws Mother’s Club the first year they were formed. DeeDee worked as a volunteer for the Salvation Army during the flood of 1994.
While her daughter attended Willis High School she assisted in making uniforms for the drill team and cheerleaders.
DeeDee also attended state level political conventions as an alternate and ended up serving as a delegate. She ran for Conroe city council in 1993. She served as a Director for the Point Aquarius Property Owners Association during 2006-2009. She also was Road Chairperson during her term as director.
DeeDee is survived by her loving and thoughtful daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Paul Scarborough. She is also survived by her brother and wife, James Fred Dobbs and wife, Liz, nieces & nephew Meredith and husband John Colquitt, and Cris Miller, great nephews Ian Colquitt, and Brandon Miller and great niece Piper Coluitt. She has numerous cousins as her father was one of eight children. One of her cousins that survives her is Lou Dobbs and his wife Debi of New Jersey. She leaves many friends during the 45 years that she lived in Montgomery County. DeeDee also had one very special lifelong friend, Jolene Kelly of Dallas.
