David Charles Mamo passed away on April 18, 2025, at the age of 63. David was born to Joseph and Mary Carmen Mamo on August 12, 1961, in Dearborn Michigan. During his childhood, David was diagnosed with Leukemia and began his cancer treatment program in Detroit Michigan. Determined to find a cure, his father, Joseph Mamo, moved his family to Houston, Texas, and admitted David to Texas Children’s Hospital. After his long battle with Leukemia, David miraculously survived cancer during his mid-teenage years.
David graduated from J.L McCullough in the Woodlands, Texas in 1980 along with his brother Stephen. He was an avid aviation enthusiast and earned his pilot certification with his brother Stephen. He continued his passion in aviation and worked for Eastern and American Airlines for over 20 years when he was forced to retire due to health complications.
He was the “Big Brother” and always took the role of the “family leader” amongst his brother, sisters and cousins. He enjoyed music at a very young age and throughout his life, so much so that in his teens, along with his brother Stephen and cousin Jerry, they decided to form a band. He also enjoyed making home movies, with his 8MM video projector, where his cast were his brother, sister and cousins. Another passion he had was saltwater fishing where the entire family always went on these excursions.
David was predeceased by his father Joseph Mamo, grandparents Austin and Agnus Mamo, Joseph & Emmanuella Gatt. He is survived by his mother, Mary Carmen Mamo, brother and sister-in-law, Stephen & Sandra Mamo, their children, Stephen Mamo II, Heather Naugle, Stephanie & Johnathan Franchi, Rachel & Andrew Espindola and all their grandchildren. A very special thanks from the family to his caregivers that loved him so very much at Huntsville Health Center, Amen & Saint Joseph’s Hospice. We could not have done this without you.
