Dan's parents were Brooklyn E. Dietz and Freda S. Dietz (both deceased). Dan was married to Carolyn Gayle Bruner Dietz for thirty years. Prior to Gayle and Dan's marriage, Dan had two children: Deborah Garland and Daniel Dietz. Dan had four grandchildren.
Dan was a brilliant, self-taught scientist and engineer having filed dozens and dozens of patents in fields such as biomedical, cancer research, eyewear and several other industries. Dan wanted to help others in the world and focused his efforts on such.
Dan had a wonderful energy about him - a magical presence. He could walk into any room and become the center of attention. (You'd think he was a Hollywood star!) His laughter was infectious. His stories always entertaining. And his smiles calm and soothing.
Dan loved science and enjoyed watching science fiction shows. He especially loved Star Trek. Such shows inspired him. But his favorite hobby (besides building his next invention in the garage) was dining at nice restaurants with his wife, Gayle. He loved his wife dearly; she was his number one. It was because of her that he tried hard to both succeed in life and help others. Dan was a great husband, father and son. He will be dearly missed by many.
Dan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a very special relationship with many of the missionaries in his church ward and loved cooking big dinners for them on a regular basis.
Services will be held for Dan on January 14, Saturday at 11:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 9950 Mason Road, Richmond, Texas 77406
