Although I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Phillips, I feel like I've had a glimpse of the man he must have been through knowing his son, Charlie. 
My son, Wylie, has been close friends with Charlie, it seems like forever. Many of the attributes mentioned in the entries here -- willingness to help, laughter, kindness -- apply to his son as well. Obviously, his father (and mother) raised him well.
My heart goes out to the family in 
their grief, and I wish them comfort in knowing how many of us hold them in our thoughts and prayers.

Semper Fi old friend. You will now be guarding the Pearly Gates. You will truly be missed.

My dear friend Charlie you will be so missed! You were the greatest friend and a plain awesome man that loved his family especially that cute grandson of yours.

My family loved you and all of us here at Coastal Power Systems loved you, your laughter and your love of coffee but mainly your love for all even Ralphy he keeps looking for you.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Phillips family,,, so sorry and very saddened to hear about your loss....I knew Mr Charlie for a very short 2 years but it was enough to know how great of a person he was in every way, always so helpful and keeping a smile on our faces with a simple comment or gesture. God bless his family and may you have the comfort from above during your time of hurt and sadness .

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Phillips family. I have had such a heavy heart since I was told. Charlie was full of laughs and had a smile on his face. I was blessed to have the opportunity working with Charlie at Smith Protective Services in the Patrol Division and in the Security Guard Division for several years. I know he has a beautiful family. Dear charlie, you were the man that most men should have been. You were there anytime we needed you and you did anything that it took to get the job done. My dear friend you will be missed, when people asked all we said was its just Charlie and that said it all.  You were loved by many and admired by most sometimes we did not know how to take you but we knew no matter what you would always be there to share in any joy or sorrow that came our way, what will we do without you my coworker, my friend , my brother.
