A visitation for Cecil Bates will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 5:00 till 9:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Cecil was born December 20, 1920 in Laurel, Mississippi to Henry and Meda Griffin Bates and passed away on April 1, 2010 in Conroe, Texas. Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Annie Bates and son Cecil Bates Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Mary H. Cornelius of Willis, Texas, Doris M. Whitley of Willis, Texas, Meda F. Gable of Ferriday, Louisiana, Annie R. Rumsey of Brookhaven, Mississippi, Ella L. Robinson of Houston, Texas, Maxine Deloach of Spring, Texas, Patricia Arms of Arlington, Texas, Harry T. Bates of Monticello, Arkansas, Hubert R. Bates of New Caney, Texas, Marcus W. Bates of Tomball, Texas and Johnny G. Bates of New Caney, Texas. 27 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Numerous other family and friends also survive.
