It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine “Cathy” Kennedy announces her passing. Cathy, 60, of Willis Texas, formerly of West Hempstead New York, passed away on Tuesday January 8, 2019 at Conroe Regional Hospital, surrounded by family. Cathy was a strong, loving, selfless; Daughter, Sister, Mother, Aunt, and Grandmother who is loved and missed by all. She will be cherished and remembered always.
Cathy was born June 26,1958 in Queens, New York, the oldest child to Lawrence and Helen Kennedy. She grew up in West Hempstead, New York where she lived until 2002 when she and her children moved to join family in Texas. She was a strong, hardworking, selfless, single mother of four, always providing for them no matter the sacrifice. She instilled this strength and love into her children deeply.
Family was everything to Cathy, if ever asked what she wanted, it was always to have everyone in the same place at the same time. She enjoyed this time with family more than anything. She loved watching her children grow up and cherished her grandchildren. Everyone that came into her life was treated and loved as family. She enjoyed keeping in touch with old friends from New York and telling stories of memories as though no time had passed.
She is survived by her father Lawrence John Kennedy of Willis, four children; Michael Kennedy and wife Megan of Chico, California; Jennifer Kennedy Evans and husband Joseph of Conroe; Charlie Kennedy and Samantha Miller of Conroe; and Larry Kennedy of Willis, grandchildren; Brayleigh Jane Walters and Kinleigh Lane Kennedy of Conroe, and unborn Baby Kennedy of Chico, California, her sister Susan Andree and husband Brett of Montgomery; her brother John Lawrence Kennedy of Willis, Nephews Clint and Austin Andree of Montgomery; as well as many family members and friends across the country.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Mary Kennedy, Benjamin and Tessie Galak and her mother Helen Kennedy as well as numerous other family members.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Rd. Conroe, Texas. The family invites friends to a Celebration of Life Luncheon at the home of Jennifer and Joseph Evans in Conroe, following the service.
