Cathryn Hendrick, born in Palestine, Texas, November 26th, 1915, was received into heaven in the early morning hours of December 30, 2013. Waiting to greet her was her beloved husband of 67 years, Emmett, her parents Leta and Cleve Johnson, her sister, Elsie, and many other family members and friends. Her life was a shining example of Christian love and service. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed nothing more than keeping a happy home. She was faithful to God through stewardship of her time and resources. Cathryn counted it a blessing to have taught fourth grade Sunday School for more than 40 years. She also enjoyed working in the church library and kept her mind sharp by reading at least one novel a week. Her daily priority was prayer, spending hours in thoughtful remembrance of each family member and friend with special needs, bringing them to the Throne of Mercy. As a young mother, she was instrumental in organizing and coordinating the annual Anderson County Mothers March of Dimes against birth defects. She was a graduate of Nixon Business College but found her fulfillment in homemaking and Christian service. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a child and became a member of First Baptist Church in Palestine, later continuing her lifetime Christian commitment through memberships in Woodridge Baptist Church, Sagemont Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church in Conroe. She also enjoyed several years of worship at April Sound Church in Montgomery. Those anticipating a heavenly reunion with her include her daughter and son in law, Martha Lynn and Larry Davis, of Conroe; her grandchildren, Blair and Yong Jenkins, of Denver, Colorado; Jay and Kathryn Jenkins, of Friendswood, Texas; Jared and Trisha Davis, of Amarillo, Tx., Jennifer and Randy Hall, of Amarillo, Tx. ; great grandchildren Ashley Jenkins of Houston; Madison, Sydney, and Jaxson Jenkins of Friendswood, Bree and Gage Davis of Amarillo, Laney, Faith, Alanna, Camden, and Justice Hall, of Amarillo, and great great grand daughter, Kiley Estralla, of Houston. Nieces and nephews include Susan and Joe Taggart of Surprise, Arizona; Jimmy Dussau of Minneapolis, Mn.; Carlos and Ruth Ann Hendrick of Needville, Tx.; Linda Lou and Robert Black of Jacksboro, Tx.; and Joyce Tauber , Ventura, Ca. A celebration of Cathryn’s life will be held January 2, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at April Sound Church in Montgomery, Tx. Graveside services will follow in Palestine, Texas.
