Catherine is a beloved wife, mother, mother in law, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who were blessed enough to know her. Growing up, Catherine’s favorite song was “Brighten The Corner Where You Are” and she truly exemplified this and was a shining light always.
Catherine was born in Weatherford, Texas on November 16, 1922, to James Ira and Mattie Irene Gilbert. After the death of her parents, she and her siblings were raised by their grandparents John and Sarah Feagin. She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1940 and moved to Ft Worth to work at Montgomery Wards. On January 4, 1943, she married the love of her life William Alexander Berwick, and they stayed happily married and in love until his untimely passing in 1955. Catherine and Al moved back to Ft Worth in 1948 where they raised their two sons and she resided in the same house until 2019. In 1960 she was re-married to Jack Moore and remained married until his passing in 2013.
Catherine retired from Justin Industries in 1984 where she had worked for 20 years. She was the Chapter President of National Women in Construction for many years, and the national vice president for one year. She was a resident volunteer at Carriage Inn. She has always been active both in her church and community and followed The Lord with all her heart. She loved all the birds, plants and flowers, playing cards with her sisters, any type of game, and being out in nature. She took several cruises, her favorites were Alaska and The Panama Canal, and the Caribbean cruise she took to celebrate her 100th Birthday! Catherine was an avid reader and was always up on current events. She stayed busy and kept her mind and body active. Most of all, her favorite thing was spending quality time with her family. Her 100th Birthday was a great time full of friends and family, multiple parties, and lots of honoring her and the amazing woman she is.
On her birthday a friend wanted to sing her favorite song and she chose, “To God Be The Glory” because she wanted to be sure The Lord was glorified!
She is survived by her son Timothy Berwick and wife Carolyn. Grandchildren Alex and Alicia Berwick, Brad and Patricia Berwick, and Kim and Ty Hutchins. Great Grandchildren Ryan and Sarah Berwick, Carson and Nichole Berwick, Collin Berwick, Anna Bei Berwick, Bethany Berwick, Connor Berwick, Raegan Johnson and Karley Hutchins. Great Great grandchildren Olivia and Alex Berwick. Son Paul Berwick and wife Darlene, Grandchildren Jonathan and Katherine Berwick, Cate and Andrew Johnson. Numerous Nieces and Nephews, all of whom were well loved
A visitation will be held on Saturday January 21st from 3-6, at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas. Burial will be at Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, on Wednesday January 25th.
The family wants to thank the staff and residents at Carriage Inn for a wonderful three years. She was well loved and well taken care of by everyone. Her time there was happy and busy and full of fun, and for that we are grateful. We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Devotion Hospice for taking such good care of her in her last months.
