Carolyn Bernhard Hebert, age 87, passed into eternal life on Monday, July 31, 2023 at her home after a third battle with cancer. Carolyn was a faithful follower of Christ and never wavered in her belief even in the face of her recurring illness.
She was born on September 17, 1935 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Leonard Bernhard and Lucille Duvigneaud. She was raised in that city attending McMain and Fortier High Schools and Louisiana State University. During her first week at LSU, Carolyn met Tildon Joseph Hebert and knew immediately that he was the man she would marry. And indeed, they wed the following year on September 19, 1954. This September would have been their 69th wedding anniversary.
Carolyn was a devoted and loving mother to her children. As her extended family grew, she continued to plan yearly beach vacations, cruises, and pizza and game nights. Having all the family together was one of her greatest joys. She loved music, sitting on the porch reading and enjoying the surrounding trees. She cared deeply for her pets, gathering up strays and taking care of wildlife wherever she lived.
Carolyn loved spending time with children, working as a preschool teacher at First Presbyterian Day School and as the children’s librarian for Montgomery County for many years. She was an elder at First Presbyterian Church and served her community over the years as a member of Assistance League of Montgomery County and volunteering with Meals on Wheels.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Tildon, her three children along with their spouses: Nancy and Dennis Hallaron, Tildon and Julie Hebert, Cheryl and Greg Webb. Her loving family includes five grandchildren Christopher Hallaron, Lauren Hallaron, Timothy Hallaron, Jason Carrier, and Megan Carrier Jackson, and nine great-grandchildren
A Celebration of Life for Carolyn will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to First Presbyterian Day School or a pet charity of your choice.
