Carol Evans Crenshaw passed away August 7, 2014 at the age of 86 in Conroe, Texas. She was born October 16, 1927 in Liberty, Texas to James and Hildred Evans. Carol was raised in Wharton, Texas where her father established and published the Wharton Journal. She attended Wharton High School, where she went on to receive her AA from Lon Morris College and then her Bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas in 1951. Carol was a member of Phi Theta Kappa while at Lon Morris College and a member of Gamma Phi Beta at the University of Texas. She was a devoted and active member of First United Methodist Church in Conroe, and a member of the River Plantation Garden Club. She loved playing bridge, a game in which she excelled, and through which she made many wonderful friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willis P Crenshaw, parents, James and Hildred Evans and brother, James H Evans, Jr. Carol is survived by her daughters, Kat Staton and husband Brian and Susan Gregory and husband Larry, son, Michael Evan Crenshaw and wife Carol, sister, Winnie Alexander and husband Carmon, grandchildren, Melissa Zip and husband Steven, Jenn Greiner and husband Paul, Austin Schneider, Timothy Bunch and wife Rebekah, Christopher Bunch, Nicholas Crenshaw and Claire Crenshaw, great grandchildren, Alexandra Zip and Xavier Arrisola. Carol was a very special woman who touched the lives of many people, and she was an inspiration to her family and her many friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:00AM in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Dr. Jerry Neff officiating.
