Candace Marie (Fowler) Burdett, 'Candy' as family and friends knew her, passed away peacefully at her home in Panorama Village, Texas on June 08, 2023 at the age of 78 after a long bout of illness. Candy was born September 09, 1944 at St. Joseph's Maternity Hospital in Houston, Texas. She lived in the Houston area her entire life until retirement in 2008 and relocating to Panorama Village.
Candy was preceded in death by her father Maren Claude Fowler, mother Patricia Clarina Stewart Fowler, son David Lee Pierce, brother Maren Claude Fowler Jr., brother Luther Fowler, sister Sandra Kay Fowler Turner.
Candace is survived by her loving husband Jim Burdett of Panorama Village, son Robert and wife Norma Hendrickson of La Grange TX, daughter Beth and husband James Capps of Hempstead TX, brother Tim and wife Connie Fowler of Tomball TX, brother Eugene Fowler of Willis TX, brother-in-law Woodrow Turner of Recklaw, TX, grandchildren Jesse Hendrickson, Jamie Hendrickson, Dallas Pierce, Kayla Pierce, David Pierce III, Jamisen Capps, great grandchildren Juliet, Zoey, Giselle, Jewel, Mathew and Michael Hendrickson. And many nieces and nephews.
Candy was a true native Houstonian, growing up a member and baptized at The Westheimer First Baptist Church, Houston. She attended/graduated Houston public schools, continued education in commercial arts, and secretarial courses at San Jacinto College. During the mid sixties Candy began her working career along side her mother in the electronic manufacturing industry performing in assembly, purchasing and supervisory positions. In 1980 she was employed by Daniel Industries, Service Division as a buyer for the purchasing department, then as secretary/dispatcher for the field service department. In 1988 Candy was promoted to office manager for a newly formed Measurement Services Division where she worked until retirement in 2008.
Candy never really retired, wanting to do something useful and continue working with people she joined the Montgomery County Assistance League in 2009 where she volunteered her time for several years. She enjoyed working in the Thrift Shop, making the Care Dolls, serving as club secretary and anything else needed doing. Due to failing health Candy was forced to end her volunteer work in 2021.
A celebration of Candy's life will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas.
In lieu of flowers Candy request donations to the Montgomery County Assistance League and other philanthropic organizations in Montgomery County.
