Brenda Diane Daly Hackedorn passed away November 18, 2023, in Conroe, Texas. She was born November 23, 1949, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and lived in Louisiana until moving to Houston in elementary school. Brenda graduated from Bellaire High School in 1967 and Louisiana State University in 1971, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority.
Brenda was a fixture in Conroe, teaching at Sam Houston Elementary School for many years, volunteering with Conroe Service League and attending First United Methodist Church, where her Sunday School class fostered friendships lasting over forty years. Her enthusiasm for Astros baseball, LSU football, Texas beaches and road trips was legendary. Her generosity of spirit and kindness toward others extended to everyone with whom she came in contact. Her legacy is one of service and caring for others — no matter how small or how daunting the task, she didn’t hesitate to lend a hand, bring a meal, or offer encouragement.
Brenda was preceded in death by her loving parents Vera Poole Daly O’Brien and Carl Owen Daly. She is survived by her daughters, Katie Hackedorn and Mary Lee Wilkens, son-in-law Richard Wilkens and grandsons, Brady and James Wilkens; her brother, Ron Daly and his wife, Janet; and her sister, Cathy Olson and her husband, Chris. She is also survived by niece and nephews Jordan Holt and Stephen and Brandon Daly, and their families.
A memorial service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, 2:00PM at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, with a reception to follow. Her daughters wish to thank the staff at Woodhaven Village for their gracious care and her many friends and loving family for all the blessings you shared with Brenda throughout her lifetime.
