Brenda Sue Bakker

Brenda Sue Bakker, age 73, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully May 7, 2016 after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer. Brenda was born August 23, 1942 in Livermore, Kentucky to Allen and Margalene (Underwood) Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Margalene; husband, Nelson Lee Bakker; son, Tony Ray Bakker; brothers: Junior, Marshall, Roger and Pascal and sister, Lula Mae. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Moore and husband John of Cut N Shoot, Texas; sisters: Emma Louise Hall of Holland, Michigan, Jane Burden of Calhoun, Kentucky and Nita Williamson of Birmingham, Alabama; grandson Dustin Holmes and partner Ricky Sargent of Cut N Shoot, Texas; granddaughter, Tara Hodge and husband Charles of Conroe, Texas; and great grandson, Gavin Hodge. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Willis, Texas.

Brenda moved to Texas to go to truck driving school after her husband and son passed away but that changed when her granddaughter was born. She decided to be an apartment manager and stay close to family. After being injured on the job, and no longer able to work, she took up traveling with her sisters and their husbands and her granddaughter and grandson. Brenda enjoyed baking, quilting and making various other crafts. She also enjoyed planting flowers and watching birds in her backyard.

Brenda was devoted to her family and to her kids, grandkids and great grandson, she was the best Mom and Mamaw imaginable. She never met a stranger and could always find something in common with others. Brenda will be remembered by her loved ones for her strong-will, determination, and perseverance. The light and love she leaves in our hearts will forever burn brightly.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Charles Smith officiating. The family requests everyone to wear something pink in celebration of Brenda since that was her favorite color. Reception to follow.
