Robert “Bob” L. Mackey was born on January 29, 1936, in Houston Texas, to Earl and Ida Mackey. He left this world to be with his beloved wife Sulane, on December 19, 2022. He passed in peace at his home in Conroe, Texas.
He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to everyone he knew. Bob is an Air Force veteran having served dutifully in Korea and retired from the Houston Fire Department where he was Chief of the Arson Division. In that role he obtained his Master Peace Officer License. He was a member of The Willis Cowboy Fellowship Church and filled his retirement days as a member of the Reguladores Motorcycle Club. As a member of the club his feisty nature earned him the nickname “Scrappy” and the position of Sergeant of Arms. While he gave his life to public service and his friends in time of need, he only gave his heart to Sulane. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl. and Ida Mackey; siblings, Earl Mackey Jr and Marjorie Davis; his loving wife, Vivian “Sulane” Mackey.
Bob is survived by his children, Bobby Mackey and his wife Kim, Karen Byrd and her husband John, Ken Mace and his wife Linda; grandchildren, Nikki Post, Brian Post, Misty Dozier, Randy Dozier, Mandy Crotts, and Layna Mackey; as well as 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm with the funeral service starting at 3:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas. With Mike Heuer as the Pastor. Entombment will follow in the Garden Park Mausoleum. Serving as Pallbearers: Ken Mace, Brian Post, Randy Dozier, Ryan Dozier, John Byrd and Mike Clark.
