Betty Laird

adorable great-grandchildren, Betty was born on January 22, 1924, in the Ad Hall community near Cameron, Texas. She was married to Neely R. Laird for 61 years, who preceded her in death in 2003. Betty was a loving mother and homemaker as well as a faithful member of North Harris County Church of Christ. Her kind and gentle spirit will certainly be missed by family, friends and neighbors. Bates Laird of Houston, Texas; her son-in-law, Oliver Lee Roberts of Conroe, Texas; and one brother, Bobby Hugh Powell of Buckholts, Texas. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Victor Hugh and Lettie Lewis Powell of Ad Hall; sisters, Dorothy Shelley of Waco, Texas, and Patsy Nicholson of Katy, Texas; and daughter, Carla Laird Roberts of Conroe, Texas. The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in The Woodlands, Vosswood Nursing Center, and the caregivers from Gulf Coast Hospice of Houston. Following a graveside ceremony for the family, friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, beginning at 12:00 noon at Metcalf Funeral Home, 1801 E.
