Bea was born on July 13, 1981, in Cleveland, Mississippi. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School, class of 2000, and earned a scholarship to play volleyball at Texas Wesleyan University where she earned her bachelor’s in accounting. In keeping with the High family tradition, Bea excelled in track and field, volleyball, and basketball throughout both high school and college. She was a member of Oak Ridge High School Volleyball 21-4A District and the Class 4-A Texas State Runner-Up Championship Team.
After graduating from college, she became the Coordinator of Resident life on campus where she worked for ten years. After her stint as Coordinator, she pivoted to a career change where she applied her degree and unique auditing skills to the mortgage industry where she excelled as a Loan Delivery Specialist at Pacific Union. Bea’s attention to detail contributed to her swift advancement to Team Lead, and later on, Investment Account Manager for Guaranteed Rate, Inc., headquartered in Chicago. Her talent for accounting and degree of precision with numbers allowed her to operate her own business as an Independent Tax Prep Consultant, something in which she took much pride.
Playful and silly, but serious enough to balance a budget and prepare taxes, Bea was a dutiful, reliable, and trustworthy professional, teammate, friend, sister, daughter, and aunt. She deeply adored her large family and unconditionally supported her nieces and nephews. She spent countless hours with her family, with her nieces and nephews, enjoying Texas high school football with her sister, playing casino games and blackjack, and brunching and traveling with her sister and friends. She took great pride in being the family photographer and was the Selfie Queen. Bea was a giving, loving person, who would give someone the shirt from her own back, and support those she loved, no matter what. Her laugh was infectious, something that would immediately have those around her smiling and laughing as well. Buying her home in Irving, Texas, was a huge point of pride for her, and endless time would be spent there watching Judge Judy, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, and entertaining her cherished family. Bea loved to laugh and would brighten every room. Her loved ones remember her charisma, her smile, and her unwavering love and support.
Bea is survived by her siblings, Marie High and David (Charla) High; her nieces and nephews, Michael High Jr. (28), Caleb High (25), Zachary Douglas (25), Joshua High (17), Abram High (15), Emma High (13), David High Jr. “DJ” (12), Camron High (10), and Samuel Joseph High (8); and her great-nephew, Kaanan Stone Douglas (8 months). She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Charles H. High and Gloria J. Goode-High, and her brother, Michael E. High.
In lieu of sympathy gifts or flowers, her family requests donations be made in honor of her memory to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Irving, TX, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
