Barbara Ann Hilton, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died peacefully in her home on January 30th, 2025, at the age of 81. She grew up in Oakland, CA, graduating from Holy Names High School and the Samuel Merritt Hospital School of Nursing.
Barbara was born in San Francisco on March 10th, 1943, to Fred and Mary Bischoff. The oldest of six siblings, she is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Susan Cole and Mary Alice Hildebrandt, and brother Bob Bischoff. She is survived by Herb, the love of her life for 66 years, her 3 sons Dan, Doug, and Brad as well as their wives Courtney, Jet, and Rania. Also surviving Barbara are brothers Fred and Bill Bischoff, and her crew of 10 grand and 6 great-grandchildren with two more great-granddaughters on the way.
Barbara was a devoted wife and unabashed advocate of her family. Known lovingly as “Brabra” or “Granny” by her grandchildren, she had a caring nature and loved to entertain. If something were going on at “the house,” you could be sure it would get rowdy and loud.
Never one to be satisfied sitting on the sidelines, Barbara manned a Bay Area suicide hotline while attending nursing school. Once in Texas, she became a member of the Klein Volunteer Fire Department, worked at the local emergency clinic, and rode on the county ambulance. Since moving to Montgomery, she has served the Conroe Symphony Orchestra, Faith Fighting Cancer in Montgomery County, the Lake Area Republican Womens Association, she was in fact “Auntie Litter” for a time, as well as involved with Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing, the Montgomery County Fair Association, New Danville, Jazzy Junk, and the Cattle Barons Ball. In 2018 she was honored as a Montgomery County Woman of Distinction.
Always full of energy. Always looking for something that needed to be done. Always with a servant’s mindset. Barbara will be sorely missed by those that knew her and were touched by her in some way.
A celebration of life memorial service for Barbara will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas 77304.
