Willa Dean “Dean” Hefner Hedrick, age 76, of Conover, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born July 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Homer Franklin Hefner and Goldie Lee Haynes Hefner. She was a member of Center United Methodist Church in Catawba. Dean worked for a number of years in the Furniture Industry, was a Deli clerk at Winn-Dixie Supermarket and later worked at Abernethy Laurels in the dietary department.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coyte Hedrick; a sister, Helen Norman; and a brother, Homer Hefner Jr.; and her favorite aunt Margaret Roseman, best friend and second Mom.
Dean is survived by her daughters, Elesa Putnam and husband, Bobby, of Catawba, and Lori Hedrick of the home; sisters, Sylvia Roseman of Conover, and Rita Buchanan and husband , Jack, of Newton; sisters-in-law, Sue Hursey, Winfred “Wink” Lawing and husband, Jerry, of Denver, Linda Hedrick of Newton, Pam Bentley and husband, Doug, of Claremont; brothers-in-law, Lewis Norman of Startown, Richard Hedrick and wife, Mavis, of Conover; grandchildren, Brandy Campbell of Catawba, Kale Brown of Brandon, FL; great-grandchildren, Riley Campbell
Logan Campbell, special cousin, James “Butch” Roseman and family, a number of nieces and nephews, and church family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church with Rev. H. L. Talbert officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Claremont.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Dean’s family would like to thank Catawba Valley Medical Center and Catawba Regional Hospice of Newton for their special care of their loved one.
