Wade was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army and in Normandy on D-Day. He was a life-long member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities. He was a long standing auxiliary deputy sheriff for the Catawba County Sherriff’s Department, a master brick mason and owner of Wade Lail’s Masonry.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Florence Poovey Lail; 3 daughters, Gloria Costin of Hickory, Julia King of Johnson City, TN, and Regina Lail of Conover; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Conover on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Scott Bollinger officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
