Thomas Nelson Puett

Thomas Nelson Puett, age 90, of Hickory passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 after a period of declining health. Thomas was a resident of Cambridge House Assisted Living in Hildebran, NC. Thomas was born May 16, 1926 in Burke County to the late Thomas Eugene Puett and Clara Baird Puett of Morganton, NC.

He served in Europe during World War II and upon arriving home, he began a lifelong career with Century Furniture Hickory, NC. Thomas had a gift for making wood furniture and was proud of his working years with Century. He retired after 39 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his wife Faye Carroll Puett, a son Jerry Wayne Puett, his brother, Clyde Rees Puett of Morganton, and sisters Helen Brown of Morganton and Jean Shull of Hickory.

He is survived by his son David Puett and wife Mary of Newton; step-son Bob Carroll and wife Nancy of Hickory and sister Reba Reece of Morganton; grandchildren Chad Puett and wife Kari of Hickory, Kevin Puett of Lincolnton, April Puett and husband Will Sherrill of Newton, Grey Puett of Hickory, Vickie Smith and husband Steve of Denver, and Pam Albright of Austin, TX. Seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, at Catawban Memorial Park in Hickory.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 2:45p.m. prior to the service at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
