Shirley Jean Simmons Warner

Shirley Jean Simmons Warner, age 69, of Conover, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born in Mitchell County on February 5, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Walter Willis and Wilma Burleson Willis. Shirley was a member of Covenant Baptist Church. She was retired and had been employed by Roses in Conover and the Dollar General Store.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, George Edwin Simmons and a granddaughter, Ashley Hawn.

Shirley is survived by her son, Joe Simmons of Conover; daughter, Robin Hawn and husband, Phillip of Conover; sisters, Sheila Tipton and husband, Richard of Salisbury, sisters, June Pittman and Judy Willis, both of Conover; granddaughter, Carrie Wright and husband, Corey of Conover and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Drum Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Edwin Elmore officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
