

Roy was born in Cheraw, South Carolina, March 30, 1929, to the late Roy H. Sr. and Lillie Maude Lowrimore. Roy graduated from Cheraw High School in 1948, and was drafted by the New York Giants baseball team. He was scheduled to join the Hickory Rebels, but an arm injury ended his professional baseball career.
After serving four years in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, Roy began his thirty-six year career with the Federal Aviation Administration. His last position was the Chief of the Airways Facility, for fourteen years, at the Hickory Municipal Airport. Roy was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church of Hickory, NC.
Roy is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Nona Jean (Gardner); son, Thomas Roy Lowrimore (wife Carla) of Clayton, New Mexico; daughters, Hope Lowrimore of Aylette, Virginia, and Leanne Johnson (husband Gary) of Taylorsville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Steven, Kristi, Megan, Scott, and Levi; sisters, Norma Brewer and Artha Sompayrac; and aunts, Josie Gates and Janie Taylor, all of Cheraw.
