Mickey Ray Sims, 91, of Conover, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Carolina Caring with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 1, 1931 in Catawba County to the late George F. Sims and Gladys Taylor Sims.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Sims and three sisters, Evadene Scronce, Audrey Carpenter and Alice Sims.
Mickey was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Conover. He was a lifelong member of Moose International Fraternity and he was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 71 years, Janette Lowman Sims; son, Rickey Ray Sims; daughter, Carol Lee Sims; four grandchildren, Kristen (Tellas) Phillips, Alex (Victoria) Sims, Adam (Toni) Sims, Patrick (Brittany) Hallman; four great grandchildren, Breanna Auton, Taylor Shaffer, Tre Phillips, Wyatt Sims; great-great granddaughter, Camille Newbauer; brother, Ted Sims; and eight special nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Carolina Caring for the care that Mickey received while in their care. They are fantastic folks.
A graveside service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Catawba Memorial Park with Pastor Mary Miller-Zurell officiating. Family will receive at graveside after the service.
