Mary Verna Arndt White

Mary Verna “Bub” Arndt White, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Piedmont Village in Newton, NC. Born December 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Robert Franklin Arndt and Florence Propst Arndt. Mary was a wife, mother and homemaker for many years. She worked as an executive housekeeper for Southern Furniture in Conover until her retirement. She also worked and retired as the second shift supervisor of housekeeping for CVMC. She also enjoyed “rocking” babies in the nursery during her time at CVMC. Mary enjoyed sewing, looping, cleaning and mowing her yard as well as mowing to her family and the neighbors. She was often called “the happy mower.” Mary was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Newton, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Brittain White; brothers, Franklin “Frank” Arndt, Robert Eugene “Dude” Arndt; sisters, Cutine Arndt Beatty, and Elizabeth Louise Arndt who died in childhood.

Left to cherish her memory are: sister, Shirley Arndt Abernathy; son, Tony Brittain White and wife, Rita of Newton; daughter, Catherine “Cathy” White Killian and fiancé, Danny Lawson of Claremont; grandchildren, Michele White Danner and husband, Steve of Conover, Shana Bixby Bolling and husband, Ken of Maiden, Kelly Denise White of Newton, Joshua Bixby and wife, Erin of Maiden; great-grandchildren, Scott McCall, Chelsea Danner, Layna Bixby, Drew Danner, Xander Bixby, Victoria Haynes, Alexis Hartsoe and her three sons; seven step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
