Mary Ruth (Hunsucker) Fulbright

Born August 15, 1930 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Walter P. Hunsucker and Annie Mae Boggs Hunsucker. Mary Ruth was the valedictorian of the 1948 graduating class of Oxford High School. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont. Mary Ruth graduated from Charlotte Memorial Teaching Hospital in 1951,with a BS in Nursing. She worked as an RN in the operating room ,first at Richard Baker Hospital for Dr. Frye and later at Frye Regional Medical Center for over 50 years.

Mary Ruth was devoted to her church, family and the community. She was a marvelous cook and could bake and decorate the most beautiful cakes. During her life, she and her husband gave out 56,000 pocket crosses to people they met and she was always ready to help those in need.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John F. Hunsucker Sr. and one sister Elizabeth (Libby) Carpenter and numerous brothers and sisters in law.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of almost 70 years, Joe R. Fulbright Sr., one brother Walter P. Hunsucker, Jr of Ohio. Four Children, Beverly Null (Dennis) of Claremont, Joe R. Fulbright Jr. (Kalen) of Lansing NC, Jerry W. Fulbright ( Pam) of Claremont and Walter K. Fulbright ( Donna) of Claremont, ten grandchildren, Joe R. Fulbright III (Andrea) of Raleigh, Zachary Fulbright (Kristell) of West Jefferson NC, Leah Pfeiffer (Josh) of Charlotte, Rahn Null (Jessica) of Boone, Krista Hinson (Jamie) of Claremont, Olivia Exon (Paul) of Claremont, Hunter Fulbright ( Makayla) of Claremont, Harrison Fulbright ( Rhyleigh) of Claremont, Chris Shoemaker of Harmony NC, Tennille Landis ( Nic ) of Conover and fifteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother and sister in law and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 10 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5759 Bolick Road, Claremont NC with the Pastor Eric Hollar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Joe Fulbright III, Zachary Fulbright, Rahn Null, Chris Shoemaker, Hunter Fulbright and Harrison Fulbright.
