John Walter Bolick, age 68, formerly of Le Claire, Iowa, recently of Indian Land, SC, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Atrium CMC Hospital, Charlotte NC. Born September 17, 1954 in Fort Worth Texas, he was the son of Talitha Gantt Bolick and the late John Koon Bolick.
He was baptized into the Christian faith on November 14, 1954 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover NC by the Reverend Richard F. Lineberger and confirmed in the faith at All Saints Lutheran Church, Charlotte NC at age 13 by the Reverend Thomas L. Edge.
John graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1973 and attended NC State University, Wake Technical College and UNC Charlotte to obtain his Engineering degrees in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. He had a passion for manufacturing, design and engineering, often designing and building advanced manufacturing machines for companies in Tennessee and Iowa.
John also had a great love of music from the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, classical Hymns, to Bach, Mozart, etc. As a youth, he played guitar at All Saints Lutheran for the contemporary services and two of his favorite quotes were “Let’s get the ‘Led’ out” or “If it’s not baroque don’t play it.” He was a history buff and enjoyed participating in a Revolutionary War reenactment group, the Renaissance Festival, anything German, had a Six Sigma Black Belt, was a CPR instructor, and at one time a Rescue Squad Member and Emergency Medical Technician. John was a Christian believer, extremely intelligent, loyal, kind and truly walked the faith.
Survivors include his son Jonathan Cameron Bolick of Indian Land, SC; mother Talitha Gantt Bolick and sister Nina Bolick Ritch of Indian Land, SC; brother Martin Edward Bolick of Charlotte NC; nephew Jonathan Edward Ritch (Bridget) of Indian Land SC; Amy Puckett of Indian Land SC, stepdaughters Andrea Barnes and Faron Payne (Winston); and several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, great niece and great nephews.
A graveside burial was held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Conover Cemetery with the Reverend Kevin Graudin officiating.
