Joan Self Elmore

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by son, Johnny Benfield; daughter, Kathy Shoe; brothers, Homer Self, Red Self, Jerry Self, Roy Self, William Self, Charles Ray Self; sisters, Mavis Bumgarner, and Diane Loftin.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her favorite flower was a red rose.

Those left to cherish Joan’s memory are her husband, James Ray Elmore; sons, Terry Benfield, Rodney Benfield; daughter, Janice Stout; brother, Kenneth Self (Sandy); ten grandchildren; Six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1pm to 1:45pm at Drum Funeral Home. 509 1st Ave South Conover, NC 28613.

A funeral service for Joan will be held at 2pm on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Drum Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Edwin Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mark’s Cemetery in Claremont, NC.
