Born January 30, 1936 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Russell Ernest Hedrick and Bessie Lail Hedrick. He served his country in the U. S. Army and later retired from Vanguard Furniture. Jim loved to hunt and fish and was a commercial fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mabel Hedrick Matthews, Eadrie Hedrick Matthews Taylor, Ethel Hedrick Benfield; brothers, Clarence Hedrick, Clyde Hedrick, Rayford Hedrick, Ernest Hedrick, Russell Hedrick Jr., Fred Hedrick.
Jim is survived by his former wife, Betty Bolick Hedrick; son, Rick Hedrick and his wife, Robinette, of Hickory; brother, Vernon Hedrick of Huntersville; grandchildren, Amylynn and Aaron Haddock of Hickory, Russell and Tara Hedrick of Hickory; great-grandchildren, Tristan and Bradley Haddock.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with Rev. John Whaley of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery in Conover.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at Drum Funeral Home.
