Born August 15, 1934 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Horace Henry Braswell and Julia Etta Kelley Braswell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked with the Taylorsville, Newton and Maiden Police Departments.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Mann Braswell; son, Harold Eugene Braswell Jr.; brothers, Kenneth S. Braswell, Arnold R. Braswell; sister, Lena B. Hall; and a special nephew, Nathan D. Fulbright.
He is survived by four daughters, Tenita Walker and husband, Rocky, of Forest City, Starla Bennett and husband, Scott, of Ellenboro, Julie Adams and husband, Benny, of Maiden; and Renee Long and husband, Randy McKinney, of Conover; brothers, Owen A. Braswell of Taylorsville, Charles A. Braswell Sr. of Taylorsville; sister, Mertha B. Biddy of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Brian Walker, Christy Bridwell, and Cole Bridwell; great-grandchildren, Nicole Walker and Seth Walker.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home with Pastor Dwayne Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
