Born to Claude and Ashdoreth in Columbia, SC; Rodney was a veteran of the US Army serving as a medical specialist in Germany during the 1960s. In his career spanning over thirty years, he worked as an automotive bodywork mechanic. Rodney helped to manage Paramount Body Shop in Hickory, NC and painted a number of stock cars for the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, working for legendary racer Dale Jarrett during NASCAR's Winston-Cup era. His stock car paint and color schemes were applied to Jarrett's Coca-Cola and Nestle Crunch Car.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife Jo Ann Allen; sons, Chris Allen, Bryan Allen and wife, Gina; daughter, Michelle Leigh and husband Roger Peterson. Rodney had four grandchildren, Dylan Allen and wife McKenzie, Caleb Allen, Matthew Allen and wife Harley, and Luke Allen. Rodney had one great-granddaughter, Magnolia Allen.
Rodney was a loving father and grandfather who leaves behind many memories filled with love, laughter, and wisdom. A force to be reckoned with and strong-willed, he loved deep and will be truly missed. And even more important that that, he knew the Lord Jesus Christ.
A Funeral Service For Rodney will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 2pm - 4pm at Harmony Baptist Church, 4477 C and B Farm Rd., Conover, NC 28613.
