Ferris B. "Bud" Benson Jr.

He was born on September 24, 1931 in Nashville, TN to the late Ferris Bennett Benson Sr. and Eddie Smith Benson. Bud was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Bennington. He served as an Environmental Engineer over 30 years at EPA from where he retired. Bud was a Mason in Nashville, TN and a member of the Doric Lodge # 732 for over fifty years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Sheila Benson and Jewell Tobin; and a brother, Bryant Benson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Michael Benson of Raleigh, NC; daughters, Lydia Davis of Magalia, CA, Diana Benson of Tuscon, AZ, and Melissa Mace and husband, Jeffery of Claremont, NC; four grandchildren, Matthew Davis, Adam Davis, Tyler Davis, and Emma Benson.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with Pastor Greg Spurling officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Markham Memorial Gardens in Chapel Hill.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
