David Edward Wood

Born June 12, 1937, he was the son of the late James Clingman Wood and Hildreth Norman Wood. David was a self-employed plumber and a member of Plateau United Methodist Church in Vale. He served eight years in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Linda Drum Wood.

Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Susan Wood O’Daniel and husband, Tim of Raleigh, Natalie Wood Horniman and husband, Matt of Claremont; son, David E. Wood Jr. and wife, Kelly of Vale; grandchildren, Natasha O’Daniel, Hannah O’Daniel Stover and husband, Matt, Lindsey Wood, Bailey Wood and Joshua Horniman; great-grandchildren Ava Stover and Leia Stover; sister, Juanita Wood Haas of Newton; brothers Ned Wood and wife, Fran of Claremont and Bobby Wood and wife Carla of Gastonia.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Plateau United Methodist Church in Vale with Rev. Dave McHale officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Catawba County Senior Nutrition Services, PO Box 207, Newton, NC 28658, or Plateau United Methodist Church, 3315 Scronce Road, Vale, NC 28168.
