Darrell retired from Johnson Brothers Trucking after working for over 40 years. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and he was a member of the American Legion Post 16.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelvie Jean Hoyle Hamby.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Darrell L. Hamby Jr. and wife Sharon, Anthony Hamby, Douvhn Hamby and fiancé Jennifer Willix; brothers, Bill, Ronnie and David Hamby; sisters, Barbara Letterman, Shirley Moses, and Mary Kurzak; grandchildren, Tyler and wife Carlee, Drew, Douvhn Jr., Megan, Lilly, Lorelai, Jakob, Libby Hamby, Ashley Childers; great grandchildren, Paislee Hamby and Ford Douglas, Lawton, Emma and Warner Childers.
A visitation will be held at 10am Saturday, December 23, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
A Celebration of life will be held at 11am Saturday, December 23, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend Ralph Kraft officiating. Burial will follow at Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
Serving as pallbearers are his grandchildren, Lilly, Jakob, Lorelai, Douvhn Jr, Tyler, Drew.
