Born December 13, 1923 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Nathan Bentley and Ludie Cleo Bumgarner Jenkins. He was a member of Bright Light Tabernacle Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Kay Duncan Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife of ten years, Selma M. Jenkins of the home; son, Thomas Micheal Jenkins; daughters, Sherry Jenkins Goad, Vicky Jenkins Lee, and Jackie Jenkins Teague; brother, Walter Bentley; grandchildren Kim Dunning, Brandalyn Jacobi, Jody Jenkins, Billy McCormick, Lacey Teague Jr., Kasey Teague, Tracey Teague and Michael Bumgarner; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. Rev. Jesse Hamlett will officiate and burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Drum Funeral Home.
