Clare Joan Smith Miller

She was born June 29, 1937 in Conover to the late George Paul Smith and Bernice Margot Wambsganss Smith. Mrs. Miller had a B.S. in Secretarial Administration from UNC, Greensboro and an M.A. in Education from Appalachian State University. She was an accountant for General Electric Corporation in Charlotte before teaching business courses at Grays Chapel High School in Greensboro, NC. Later she became accountant at the Concrete Machine Co. before teaching business courses at Bandys High School in Catawba NC, where she retired in 1992. Clare had a long standing affiliation with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Conover.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bernice Palmer and husband, Bob; brother, Bernard Smith; and grandson, William Palmer.

A Service of Remembrance will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with Rev. Rudy DeRosa of Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a cause that is meaningful to the contributor.
