Catherine Blackwood Bolick

Catherine “Kitty” Blackwood Bolick, age 93, of Conover, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2019, at Trinity Village in Hickory, NC. Born June 22, 1926, in Lamar County, MS, she was the daughter of the late Remus Tally Blackwood and Sybil Posey Blackwood.

Catherine was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, NC, and was the former owner and operator of The Smart Shop. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, whom she adored.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Smith Bolick, Sr.; son, Herman Smith “Smitty” Bolick, Jr.; brothers, Glenn Blackwood and Milton Blackwood; and a sister, Mary Ethel Blackwood Massey.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda B. Bolick and husband Jerome of Conover, NC; daughter-in-law, Opal Eckard Bolick of Conover, NC; sister, Peggy Blackwood Pittman of Hattiesburg, MS; grandchildren, Chadwick Bolick and partner Gene Chan of San Francisco, CA, Nicole Bolick Driver and husband Doug of Raleigh, NC, and Judith Lynn Bolick Munday and husband Cody of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren, Ryan Driver and Madeline Driver.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Conover City Cemetery with Rev. Craig Schultz officiating. The family will greet friends following the graveside service.
