Carl "Doc" Hicks

Carl “Doc” Hicks, age 84, of Conover, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at his residence. Born November 6, 1931 in Lee County,VA, he was the son of the late John Alvin Hicks Sr. and Ova Cordelia Foster Hicks. He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army and a retired truck driver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Betty Jean Hicks; son, James Kenneth Hicks; brothers, Kenneth, Clyde, John Alvin Jr. and Cyrus Hicks.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of eight years, Joyce Blankenship; sons, Carl Edward Hicks and wife, Lisa, of Catawba, Russell Wayne Hicks and wife, Cindy, of Claremont; grandson, Jason Wayne Hicks; great-grandson, Camron Seth Hicks; step-sons, Bob Blankenship and wife, Janice, Bill Blankenship and wife, Deb; step-daughters, Sonya Ledbetter and husband, Kenneth, Lisa Hilzewdager and husband, Donald; nine step-grandchildren and thirteen step-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with Lay Pastor Russell Riley officiating.

His family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
