Betty Jo Miller Howard

Betty Jo Miller Howard, age 87, passed away on August 14, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born November 5, 1925, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Ella Rose Miller. She was a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Catawba, former co-owner of Shady Grove Diner, had worked at Ridgeview Hoisery Mill, and along with her late husband, Mack, was co-owner and bookkeeper for Mack Howard Garage.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, J. C. Medlin; second husband Mack Edwin Howard.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Deal and husband, George, of Newton; sons: Derran Medlin and wife, Francine, of Conover, Todd Medlin and wife, Traci, of Catawba, grandchildren, Shelley Hayes and husband, David, Susan Wright and husband, Paul, Jeffrey Medlin and wife, Teressa, Kevin, Colton, Kasey, and Kendyl Medlin; great-grandchildren, Abbey, Jessica, Addison, Sophie, Michael, Matthew, Caleb, and Randy.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Alms officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be David Hayes, Jeff Medlin, Kevin Medlin, Randy Medlin, Colton Medlin, and Lynn Medlin.
