Barbara Jean Martin Carter

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Harold Lee Carter; brother, Edward Martin; sisters, Marie Benge and Eloise Martin; and grandchild, Raven Houston Deats.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Peggy Jean Huffman and friend, Chester Niewczyk of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Jerleen Higgs of Newton, NC; grandchildren, Alexa Rufty and Falon Rufty of Hickory, NC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Barbara’s caregiver, Brenda Higgs Blackburn.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m.on Friday, August 4, 2017 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to: Catawba County Humane Society, 3224 20th Avenue SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
