Walter E. Reece, 60, of Connersville died Monday, June 12, 2023, at Brickyard Healthcare of Richmond.
Walter was born to Eugene and Barbara Reece on October 7, 1962, in Slidell, Louisiana. He attended Milton High School, graduating with the class of 1978. Following graduation, Walter enlisted in the United States Marines where he was trained as a sharpshooter and earned the good conduct medal. He proudly served his country until 1982 when he was honorably discharged. After returning home, Walter assisted his father in the family business - Gene Reece & Son Contractors for many years, until becoming a press operator and later a truck driver. He married the former Judy Wilson on April 9, 1988, in Connersville. Walter was a member of Full Gospel Holiness Church. He was an avid knife and gun collector who enjoyed hunting deer and rabbit with his beagles by his side. In addition, Walter enjoyed target shooting and going fishing. He loved hosting bon fires, grilling out, attending get-togethers and spending time with his family. Above all, he adored his grandchildren. Walter will be dearly missed by all who love him.
In addition to his mother Barbara and wife Judy, Walter is survived by his son: Joshua Reece and his wife Emma; granddaughters: Bailee and Kaiydence.
Walter is preceded in death by his father: Eugene; daughter: Rachel Woodam.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor Jeff Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Lick Creek Cemetery. Friends may gather at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Shelter, Inc. in Walter’s honor.
