A Connersville native, Sharon was born October 2, 1940 to Tony and Minnie Cornett Ervine. She attended Connersville area schools and was employed for several years at Design and Manufacturing on the assembly line. On October 5, 1957, Sharon married Paul Dean Sturgis. Together, they greatly enjoyed spending their leisure time fishing and boating at Brookville Lake. Sharon loved being at the lake, it always made her feel closer to God. She also delighted in mushroom hunting and playing bingo at the Moose Lodge. Sharon’s greatest love was her grandchildren.
Sharon is survived by her daughters: Sabra Adams; Shauna Allen and her husband, Fred, all of Connersville; Kelly Sturgis and her companion, Paul Wathen of Pearlington, Mississippi; her grandchildren: Toni Adams, Curtis Wathen, Eric Allen and his wife, Brittney, Daniel Wathen, Tiffani Allen and her companion, A.J. Berryman; her great-grandchildren: Joseph Taylor, Makalia Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Gracelynn Faye Berryman, Aiden Allen, Axton Berryman, Dristen Allen, Ashton and Bailey Wathen; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dean Strugis; her sisters: Ruby Hobbs, Donna Williamson, Wilma Collins, Phyllis Fish and Frances Pope; her grandson: Michael Smullen; her niece: Phyllis “Peanut” Collins and her former son-in-law: Marvin Adams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Sharon’s nephew, Mike Pope, officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
