Obituary of Paul Joseph Schoenfeld
Paul Joseph Schoenfeld, 77, of Connersville, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at his residence. A Fayette County native, Paul was born on August 20, 1934 to Joseph F. and Alice Lucile Cherry Schoenfeld, both of whom precede him in death. Paul attended Bunker Hill Elementary School and St. Gabriel’s School, graduating in 1952 from Connersville High School. Paul was in FFA and farmed with his dad while he was in school; in 1954 he joined the Army National Guard earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He had been employed with White Consolidated, Inc. and it predecessor, Design & Manufacturing, and Philco-Rex. Paul had served as union steward and, along with his wife, had been the caretaker at Manlove Park. Paul enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and especially spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, the former Rita G. Gabbard, whom he married December 15, 1956; their children: Teresa Jesse, Kimberly Schoenfeld, both of Connersville, Cindy Smith of Greensburg, Brian Schoenfeld and his wife, Toni, of Connersville, Dawn Reneé Bulmer of Cincinnati, Ohio; Brennen and Lucy Schoenfeld of Connersville; sisters: Leah Ann Manning, Rita June Ashby, both of Connersville, 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Reverend Stanley Herber of St. Gabriel Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in Lick Creek Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit from 4 until 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where a rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
