Margie was born April 5, 1924 to Jim and Betty Lakes Tincher in Letter Box, Jackson County, Kentucky. She attended Kentucky area schools followed by two years at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. On July 4, 1944, Margie was married in Parrot, Kentucky to Elbert F. Moore, who died June 27, 2006. Together they owned and operated Moore’s Restaurant for several years at 9th and Western in Connersville. Margie was a charter member of Connersville Baptist Temple where she had taught Sunday school. She was a great cook and had been employed as a teacher’s aide in Home Economics. In her leisure time, Margie enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and spending winters in DeBary, Florida.
Margie is survived by her sons and their spouses: James H. Moore and Joyce of McClellanville, South Carolina; Roger D. Moore and Vickie of Foley, Alabama; her grandchildren and their spouses: Jason Moore and Lorie; Amanda Turner and Chuck, all of Charleston, South Carolina; Matt Moore of Raleigh, North Carolina; Heather Jacobs and Rob of Connersville; Shannon Munday and George of Foley, Alabama; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents and her husband of almost sixty two years, Margie is preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Bach.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Connersville Baptist Temple with Pastor Tim Billups officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Connersville Baptist Temple. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, Indiana.
