Judith Ann Calhoun, 81 of Connersville, passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, May 23, 2024, surrounded by family.
Judy was born January 2, 1943, Connersville, Indiana. She was the daughter of John and Virginia Hyatt Murphy. Judy was the owner of the Hound Dog Hilton and Poodle Petite for many years. In addition, she was part owner of Murphy's Gas company. After retirement, she dedicated her time to serving the community within the Lions Club, where she received the President Appreciation Award 2005-2006, the District Governor’s Certificate of Appreciation 2005 – 2006 and Lion of the Year 2007 – 2008. Judy loved to go to the movies, Kunkel’s Cruise In, getting her hair styled, playing cards and spending time with friends and family. She was able to light up a room by just being there. She will be dearly missed.
Judy is survived by her two children, Tammy (John) Schaefer of Jupiter, Florida and Randy (Judy) Smith of Connersville; five grandchildren, Jacob Schaefer, Zach (Savannah) Schaefer, Gabby Schaefer, Kelsey Smith and Kiley Smith; brother, John David Murphy of Connersville; niece, Jennifer Murphy and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lionel who passed in 2000;and many other relatives..
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
Visitation for Judith Ann Calhoun will be Saturday, May 25, 12:00 – 2:00 pm at Showalter Blackwell Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, 920 N. Central Ave., Connersville, Indiana. Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm following visitation at the funeral home officiated by Fr Dustin Boehm. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
