Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband of thirty-two years, Marvelle “Hooter” Russell, her brother Johnny (Ilene) Burris, and her sister Jeanette (Bill) Stevens. She is survived by her brothers James Burris, Phillip (Sara) Burris, Charles Burris, and her sisters Lois (Charles) Martin and Laura Burris. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Juanita will be deeply missed by her children: Kathy (Tim) Friend, Bruce Russell, and Jeff Russell. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren: Jenni (Mark) Schnable, Josh Russell, Ashley (Jabin) Collins, Kristin Maze, John Russell, Wyatt Russell, and Kevin Reece. She will also be remembered by her great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ian, Chloe, Luke, Makenna, Holden, Delanie, Kallie, Emma, and Raymond, as well as her great-great-grandchild, Willow.
Juanita was a faithful member of the Everton Southern Baptist Church, where she found comfort and community. For twenty-one years, she dedicated her time and love as the longest-standing volunteer at the Fayette County Senior Center, leaving a lasting impact on all those she served. Juanita worked at Ford for many years. She was later employed at Fayette Memorial Hospital as a CNA in the first ICU unit, she retired after countless years of service to the community.
An avid fan of the pacers, Juanita’s enthusiasm for the game brought joy to many. Her love for sports was only surpassed by her love for her family and friends. Juanita’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit and compassionate heart.
Though she is no longer with us, Juanita’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all. May she rest in peace, knowing she was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2024, at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery, section G. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Everton Southern Baptist Church.
