James was born April 26, 1930 in Somerset, Kentucky to Walter D. and Rosa Meadows Adams and attended Clarksburg and Raleigh area schools. On September 24, 1955, he was married to the former, Sally B. Richmond, in Rushville. James was a United States Army veteran where he served as a Private with the Infantry. He retired from Design and Manufacturing after eleven years of employment. He had previously been employed at McQuay Norris, Golay Industries and Connersville Casket Company. James was also the caretaker at Elephant Hill Mobile Home Park, with his wife, for twenty-three years. He was a man of all trades who enjoyed yardwork and working on cars. James also enjoyed socializing and attending church at Greater Vision Church, where he was a member. He especially loved being a husband, dad and grandpa.
James is survived by his children and their spouses: Dennis Adams of North Vernon; Derrick Adams of Salinas, California; Timothy Adams & Ruthie; Carolyn Cox & Golden; Sheila Adams; Connie Earlywine & Butch; Pastor Michael Adams & LaSonya; Rick Adams; Walter Adams & Paula, all of Connersville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and Sally, his wife of nearly sixty years, James is preceded in death by his daughters: Rosalee, Eileen and Alice Mae Adams; his daughter-in-law: Penny Ritter Adams; his grandsons: Charles Ledington; Jimmy Lone; his great-grandson: Michael Alexander Adams; his sisters: Viola Adams; Lexie J. Bell; Louvenia Marchafiva.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with his son, Pastor Michael Adams, of the Greater Vision Church officiating. Interment will follow, at the convenience of the family, in Laurel North Cemetery, Franklin County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Vision Church.
