Greta Mae Steele

Greta Mae Steele, 59, of Connersville passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 1:13 a.m. at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 28, 1964 in New Castle, Indiana to Marvin and Katherine Mae (Lewis) Lewellen. Greta was a graduate of Tri High School and Ivy Tech Community College earning an Associates Degree in Phlebotomy. She also taught Phlebotomy at Ivy Tech. Greta worked at Reid Health in Connersville for several years and prior to that, she was employed at Visteon for twelve years. She had a great passion for animals and enjoyed playing with her dogs. She also enjoyed arts and crafting, going to the casino and playing scratch off tickets. But more than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Virgil Steele; mother, Katherine Mae Lewellen; children, Nick (Alexis) Adams, Brandon Adam, Tyler Steele, Dylan (Allison) Steele; grandchildren, Lamuis, Evander, Weston; sister, Yvonne (Mark) Glenn; special friend, Kris Schneider (Rick Thompson); nieces, Amiee Blevins (Clay Christal), Angel (Jeff) Wilkerson, Arika (Kenny) Burck, Katrina Lee (Jake Burck); several great nieces and nephews and several fur babies. She is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Lewellen; grandparents, Raymond and Grace Lewellen and Norman and Thelma Lewis. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, 920 Central Ave. Connersville, IN 47331 with burial to follow at Lick Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Humane Society, 1703 Michigan Ave. Connersville, IN 47331. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
